I wrote a post recently on Why I Use WordPress (From An End User’s View) where I spoke about the power of WordPress from the End Users view. In this post I’m focusing on why I use WordPress from a developers view. First off, WordPress is drop-dead easy to get up and running. You install the software using the 5 minute set up or use something like Softaculous and you will be playing/working with it in no time. I freelance and get a chance to work with some great people. Most of my clients are small to medium sized businesses that are looking for a website or some kind of online presence. When they get in touch with me I start asking questions on what their end goal is. The questions become more involving and I discover that some are interested in a website (whatever platform or CMS that is) and some are wanting a WordPress site because they have either heard of it before, or they have used it in the past. The importance of getting involved

I’ve been trying to focus on getting more involved in my development community. Not just the local community but also the world community. Some of the ways I’ve been able to do that is to help organize a local WordPress meetup, volunteering some time to spend on the WordPress forums, and just recently, volunteering some time to help out at the Seattle WordPress Wordcamp. For me, it’s been huge. When you get involved, you share your experiences by helping or teaching. When you teach, you learn.
